The 2025 Inland20 Championship Sept 12-14 is heading to Chautauqua Lake, New York, a longtime hotbed for scow sailing on the East Coast.

The championship will be hosted by the Chautauqua Lake Yacht Club, on the south side of the lake.    The club offers plentiful regatta parking, two boat lifts, an outdoor pool and patio and a fine dining restaurant where two dinners and breakfasts will be served.

The Inland20 executive board is also proud to announce two regattas this spring, one at Wawasee Lake and the other on the Potomac River. A mid-summer event may also be possible at Indian Lake, where a new facility is planned to replace the buildings destroyed by a tornado in 2024.

“It’s a known fact that our boats were built to travel easily and this year we are going to invite all our sailors to grease their hubs and get on the road,” said Joe Ewing, commodore of the National Inland20 Scow Sailing Assoc. (NISSA). “I especially want to thank the generous spirit of the Chautauqua Lake Yacht Club, which is holding this event at its world class sailing facility.”

Chautauqua was the site for an Inland20 promotional regatta in 2023, attracting eight boats to help stir interest in the class.

The Wawasee Spring Regatta is a new event in a familiary location for Inland20 sailors.  Wawasee was the setting for the”You could say we are carrying momentum from last year forward,” said Andy Allen, a kingpin at Wawasee and rear commodore of the NISSA board.  The goal, he said, is to provide a “tune up” event and hopefully offer the same for many years to come.  Allen pledged to find host housing for anyone traveling.

The Spring Regatta on the Potomac River will be a multi-fleet event (Lightnings, Albacores, Flying Scots and Inland20s) on Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. Potomac River Sailing Association has hosted the event for many years and will offer a separate start for Inland20s as long as there are six or more boats registered.
