Lyris is a 1983 Johnson M-20 scow (#626) that was updated with a auto tack launch system and asymmetrical spinnaker to compete in Inland20 one design fleets. It includes a number of other upgrades, including stepped mast, foil rudders, windward sheeting car, replaced lines, etc. It comes with a 1990s Bryant aluminum mast (the lightest and best of the aluminum spars), asymmetric spinnaker, a lightly used set of racing sails (Bowers main and jib), and one set of practice sales (main and jib). It also has two covers for in season (mast up – older) and off season (mast down) use. The boat weighs a competitive 616 lbs.
Most of the controls are routed to the skipper, which allows for rapid fine tuning and eases responsibilities of the crew. Both the trailer and boat are titled (VA and DC respectively) and are currently located at the Washington Sailing Marina, Daingerfield Island, just south of Washington DC. Trailer could use hubs serviced prior to extensive on road use.
The nice thing about I-20s is that for their value they are cheaper on the market than many other one-design boats. Asking price is $2500.
